Barton Hills

Yesterday was the 1st day of the NEW 8am Tu/Th Relentless Boot Camp at Barton Hills Elementary. The ladies pose for a picture after knocking out their benchmark workout of max reps in 1 minute of the following: squats, pushups, and situps. I am fired up to be coaching 5 boot camps all over Austin!

However, one of my future goals is to train up other coaches to be the best in their field. I am on a mission to find 2 motivated, athletic, focused individuals who want to be a coach with Relentless Boot Camp. If you are ready to take your coaching skills, personal growth, and income to the next level at CrossFit Central, then contact me at meganparsons@crossfitcentral.com

A Play on Words

Success as I see it, is a result, not a goal. - Gustave Flaubert

When this quote came up on by Blackberry today I had to read it about 5x before it really stuck and made sense to me. I am a huge advocate of goal setting. I strongly believe if you do not write out goals and take action, then it's just a dream. Achieving goals equals success in my world.

However... The play with words on this quote reminded me how consistently doing the little things day in and day out leads to success. For example, following up with client emails; working out consistently; addressing my weaknesses; mentoring others; programming new events; etc---the result at the end of the day is success in all capacities. In other words, mapping out my goals allows me to see the end result--->success.

I am coaching 11 clients in the Trojan Challenge. Each of them wrote out 3-5 goals that they want to achieve over the next 7 weeks. Team Crush It--what are the little things you must do daily to produce results allowing you to achieve your goals?

Adventure Challenge success

(Day 1 of Challenge. Check back in 3 weeks for after pics)

Tim is one of my clients participating in the Relentless Adventure Challenge on Team Showout. He has stepped up his game and really dialed in on his nutrition and workouts. Yesterday he informed me he has lost 20lbs and 10 of them have been since the Challenge started as well as going down 2 pants sizes. That is what I call defining showout at its finest.

Watch out other teams. Team Showout is on a mission to WIN! 3 weeks left and counting...

Success

Mary and Julie are in the 8:30AM MWF Lake Pointe boot camp. They successfully completed the San Antonio Rock & Roll marathon and 1/2 marathon. Way to go, showouts!!!

SUCCESS

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.

Easy way out....NEXT

(Deep Eddy Tu/Th 6:30AM boot campers posing after working hard for their fitness goals)

I read this today in the CrossFit Journal...

Tony Budding said CrossFit can be an “asshole barrier,” where the program creates a community that weeds out weak people who aren’t willing to work for success. Coach Glassman agreed. “So much of repugnant behavior is about trying to get something for nothing, and the CrossFitters inherently don’t believe that it’s possible.”

BAM. There you have it. Anything that is worth something does not come easy. The paragraph above not only applies to CrossFit WODs and nutrition to me, but life in general. It is the sweat, tears, excitement, motivation, and passion for the love of fitness and helping others that keeps me digging deep and pushing to be better. It is the days back in the past of not knowing of how I am going to make it financially from one week to the next but still pressing on because I see the end goal. It is the guarantee to bring my A-game to each athlete every class regardless of what is going on in my life that day. As my dad would sum it all up..."Suck it up and make it work. No excuses."

I L-O-V-E what I do. Is everyday easy? Absolutely not. But is everyday rewarding? Absolutely yes. And that is why I am CrossFit. There is no easy way out for anything. Each day I must remind myself it is the little things day in and day out that lead to great rewards. I believe without a doubt that diligence leads to success--"It is the quiet moments out of the spotlight when no one else is looking that most defines character."

Are you ready to work your ass off for your dreams? I know I am.

Successful people take risks

I came across the the article below the other day by Keith Matthew, and it really got me thinking about my own life. It's simple for me to get up each day and coach CrossFit, workout, eat well, run errands, basically the daily tasks of each day, but what am I doing that pushes me out of my comfort zone to improve myself mentally, emotionally, physically, financially, spiritually.... I am not content with being stagnant. The bolded statement below switched my paradigm of thinking very quickly.

Successful people take risks. They play to win...they don't
play to 'not lose.'

Do you recognize the difference between the two?
If you don't, please go read that statement again. It's very important to your own success.

What are some ways you can play to win?

Do things that you know will help you along your success path but you've been putting off because they make you uncomfortable.

Most things I have done made me feel uncomfortable the first time through.
Back in college, I was on Spring Break with friends and we went to Jamaica. One day we were at a restaurant on a cliff and the idea was this:

Have a couple of drinks, then jump off the cliff and into the water below! It was a tourist activity and all the college kids loved it. Well, almost all of them! I stood at the edge of the cliff with my friend Bonnie. We both were nervous so we decided to jump TOGETHER (kind of like a joint venture). At first, I kept letting people cut in front of me and jump. I was delaying! In fact, I actually considered walking back down and NOT jumping! But then little girls and boys were cutting in front of me and jumping and that flared up my ego. I could be as bold as a little girl! Ha, ha ha. So we jumped. Well, actually I jumped: Bonnie chickened out at the last moment. As I looked back and saw her NOT jumping with me, I grabbed her arm and PULLED HER OFF THE CLIFF with me! Boy, was Bonnie m-a-a-a-d when we reached the bottom! Halfway down, I remember thinking, "Is this EVER going to end?" They say you should keep your body straight like a torpedo and not look down. Well, I looked down. And the moment I did, my body crashed into the water. I pulled a muscle in my neck slightly upon impact but fortunately it wasn't a big deal. Guess what my reaction was as soon as I reached the surface? WOOHOO!!!! Let's do it again!!!

And that's how it works.

Whether you are looking to strike up a conversation in an elevator, start a new business from home, create new relationships, or go cliff jumping with a few tequilas under the belt, it's all the same.
Jump in, get wet and discover your hidden reserves of self-confidence and empowerment.

Tiger Woods, Donald Trump, Ed Zimbardi, Oprah Winfrey -they all play to win.
And so should you.

Play smart, though. Successful people take educated risks. Don't just put everything down on "red." Take chances that are likely to work out in your favor.

Then enjoy the ride!

Day in and Day out

"Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out." --Robert Collier

It was cold yesterday and this morning. Frigid. Literally freezing. However, there was no stopping the 6:30AM MWF and 5:30AM TTh Deep Eddy boot camps. I have only been working with these boot campers for 2 weeks, and I learned very quickly these athletes mean business. They get up every day and bust their ass regardless of the weather conditions, family drama, or life's obstacles. Ya'll are amazing!!! Keep up the hard work and dedication.

CrossFit Central is not only a great place to reach your physical goals, but it also provides a community of support. Come see us for a great workout this Saturday, January 31st, 8:30am - 9:30am Under the Bridge at Town Lake on the hike & Bike Trail.

What are you doing day in and day out to reach your goals?
