Pumpkin Spice Latte
Cinnamon and pumpkin are two of my favorite spices, especially during the winter and fall. One of my good friends, Lyssa, came up with a healthier version for a Pumpkin Spice Latte, and I had to share. I admit I have not tried it yet, but it has everything I love all in one so I can imagine it tastes delish. Let me know what you think. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
2 TB pumpkin puree (canned or made all by yourself)
cinnamon
nutmeg
1 scoop of vanilla whey protein
Tall/small coffee
Directions: mix together and BAM! Creamy, perfectly spiced drink with a kick.

Listen Up

2010 UT vs. OU weekend --I can't believe I have the Longhorn sign on my blog =) |
I often see clients (especially females) get frustrated when they do not see major changes in 3 months. Jenifer is a prime example. The 1st 3 months was a slight change in body composition, the next 3 months was even more of a change, and now 9 months in she is really seeing the fruits of her labor. From the get go her and I discussed how the body will transform in 3, 6, 9 month cycles as long as she was consistent.
Jenifer is in the Tu/Th 6:30am Deep Eddy Relentless Boot Camp and she is doing exactly that--staying consistent! Since February she has lost the following:
18.2 pounds
6% body fat
14.95 inches
1 pant size
LISTEN UP: It did not take 1 month, 3 months...to put on unwanted weight. Stay the course. Trust your coach and the process. Be relentless with dialing in on nutrition and busting your butt every time you show up to class. Do not make excuses for your actions. The results will consistently transpire over time. Believe it!

Ceviche
Last night I was craving ceviche. I almost ordered the ceviche at Curra's for take-out, but then decided to use what I had in my kitchen and see what I could create. The pic above is a little fuzzy, but I whipped up my own version of ceviche.
Showout Meg's Ceviche-
1 salmon fillet drizzled with 1 tsp olive oil
10 kalamata olives
salsa
avocado chunks
Directions: Sear the salmon 1 minute on each side. Cut up the salmon. Throw all the above ingredients together in a bowl and add salt, pepper, & cumin.
I served the ceviche with sweet potato fries that I cut up and baked in the oven. It was delish and a good change of pace. Enjoy!

Snazzy Wheels
Are there certain things in your life that you know are so simple yet you continuously put them off? A big one for me is washing my car. I have never been a huge car person. Never really cared too much about what kind of car I drove. In my train of thought, cars to me are simply a vehicle to get me from point A to point B.
Then one day I had a quick wake up call and saw how having a dirty car was preventing me from my utmost potential. The wake up call was when I pulled up to coach boot camp at the 6:15pm M/W Little Stacy Park class and my boot campers didn't even recognize my car because it was so clean from a simple car wash earlier that day. Their 1st comment was "Meg, look at you getting all snazzy for boot camp now." It sounds so basic and possibly funny, but it was seriously holding me back.
I challenge you to think of 1 thing that is simple yet you do not do it for one reason or another. Make a decision today to take action and see how great it feels.
I feel like a new person driving around town in my clean car. Be on the look out for all the Relentless Boot Camp coaches' cars. We will all have clean cars by the end of the week. Call us out if we don't. Next on my list are 2 new hub caps. WATCH OUT!

Refuel
I spent the past weekend at home with my parents. I did not realize how much I missed them and how entirely too long it had been since I went home. The weekend was full of Friday night high school football, working on personal & Relentless Boot Camp action items, family time, good seafood, lots of sleep, and even time for a workout with my youngest sister.
I heard through the grapevine that Lindsey Smith (top 5 in the 2010 Games) spends 10 minutes every

SICFIT...
SICFIT encompasses so many aspects of fitness, life, personality, and attitude. We see it daily on sicfit.com. Last night my Dad texted me the picture above with a subject line that read: Slingblade. I almost fell out of my chair cracking up laughing at the picture. Random texts from my parents are always entertaining. I love watching my Dad continue to exemplify a fit lifestyle after powering through a 90+ hour work week during football season, coaching weak-minded high school athletes, and then sporting his SICFIT hat with pride. Age does not matter. Mentality defines a SICFIT athlete.
The past 3 months I have been working out at SICFIT Austin with Coach Big Mike. It has been humbling, encouraging, fun, and hard work. Each day I see the possibilities of becoming more than I ever could imagine as an athlete and a coach. I have dropped to 13.5% body fat by switching up my workout program and dialing in on my nutrition, which has further help me coach clients who desire the same results. The best part is that I am having fun working out each time I show up. No stress. 1 hour of full-on SICFIT training with an incredible group of athletes. As well as a day full of endless possibilities of fueling my body with proper nutrition and supplements.
I am SICFIT because it is how I live each day. Not settling for less. Consistency. Empowering others to believe the same. Practicing what I preach. Having the mentality that anything is possible.

Operation Playa
If you want something done you'll find a way. If you don't want something done you'll find an excuse. -Donald Trump
Weekly I meet with Dave King. He has become more than just a mentor to me over the past month in a half. I consider him a friend, and someone who pushes me outside of my comfort zone. As I have mentioned in previous blogs, I am huge on goal setting. Being surrounded by a goal-oriented team at CrossFit Central and now someone else holding me accountable makes a huge difference.
The past couple of nights I have woken up in mid sleep dreaming about my future at CrossFit Central and what is to come with Relentless Boot Camps.

Reality in Lyrics
Fall is one of my favorite seasons because of football. I have been around football basically my entire life since my dad has been coaching for over 25 years. I love sports because they teach you so much about character, discipline, mental toughness, team. The Boys of Fall song by Kenny Chesney came on yesterday. I've heard this song over a dozen times but for some reason when the song played yesterday it meant something different to me.
I connected the song to my current life. I am obviously not on a football team, but I am very much a part of a phenomenal team--CrossFit Central. Below are most of the lyrics to the song and my thoughts in red.
