Reality in Lyrics

Fall is one of my favorite seasons because of football. I have been around football basically my entire life since my dad has been coaching for over 25 years. I love sports because they teach you so much about character, discipline, mental toughness, team. The Boys of Fall song by Kenny Chesney came on yesterday. I've heard this song over a dozen times but for some reason when the song played yesterday it meant something different to me.

I connected the song to my current life. I am obviously not on a football team,  but I am very much a part of a phenomenal team--CrossFit Central.  Below are most of the lyrics to the song and my thoughts in red.

When I feel that chill, smell that fresh cut grass/ (anticipation of what is to come for my future & Relentless Boot Camps)I'm back in my helmet, cleats and shoulder pads/
Standing in the huddle listening to the call/
Fans going crazy for the boys of fall/
They didn't let just anybody in that club/ (opportunity to coach at CFC)
Took every ounce of heart and sweat and blood/ (No nonsense. Work hard. Good to great!)
To get to wear those game day jerseys down the hall/ (wear the Double Cs with pride)
Kings of the school man, we're the boys of fall/

(Chorus:)
Well it's turn and face the Stars and Stripes/
It's fighting back them butterflies/
It's call it in the air, alright yes sir we want the ball/
And it's knocking heads and talking trash/ (Relentlessly working to be the BEST)
It's slinging mud and dirt and grass/
It's I got your number, I got your back when your back's against the wall/ (Lend a helping hand. When 1 person is down the other is there to bring you back up)
You mess with one man you got us all/ (CFC is a team)
The boys of fall/

In little towns like mine that's all they got/
Newspaper clippings fill the coffee shops/
The old men will always think they know it all/
Young girls will dream about the boys of fall/

Do you have a song that hits home?
