Pesto

Pesto
My personal training client, Melodee, is a whizz in the kitchen. She can whip up the most amazing different dishes with only a few small ingredients. The key is her fresh herbs from her garden. After summer is over I will plant an herb garden in my backyard. One of the best things about training Melodee at her house in the backyard is the smell of fresh basil, rosemary, thyme, and oregano all around us. I whipped up something similar to what she calls Garlic Paste.

Ingredients:
~12 garlic cloves
Fresh spinach
Olives
Basil

Olive oil
Add lemon juice if the pesto is too spicy from the garlic

Directions: Add garlic cloves to food processor and chop until the cloves are almost mush. Slowly pour in olive oil while mixing. Do not pour the olive oil too fast or the paste will turn into a runny mess. I also added fresh spinach, olives, and basil to the food processor. Add ingredients until you reach the consistency desired.

I added my Pesto to fresh tomato and basil seasoned with sea salt and pepper. It's also great with any source of protein. Think of the pesto as your "fat" with a meal. Enjoy!

Goal Journal

Gracie and Ella completed their 7th personal training session with me on Monday. After the workout they posed with their Goal Journals, where they keep track of weekly fitness and nutritional goals. In the past month they have eliminated cokes from their diet and are writing down every vegetable and fruit they eat daily, with 3 vegetables a day being their goal. They also are completing 30 pushups, 3x a week, on their own. I am enjoying every minute watching these girls get stronger, leaner, and more excited about fitness and nutrition with each session. Watch out 8th graders, these girls are on a mission!

Monday we finished off our workout with me zip lining in their backyard (see pic above). I have the best job ever. Just sayin. =)

CrossFit Mom

I have the privilege of coaching all kinds of clients. From individuals wanting to improve their fitness, to best friends, to IronMan finishers, to big dog's in corporate America. It is quite the treat for me, because I never get bored.

One of my newest personal training clients is Melodee. She is a mom of 2 and hired me to come to her house to train her 2x a week. In-home personal training is great for anyone who needs to stay-at-home with their kids, but still wants the benefits of a CrossFit workout. When little Vivian starts crying during the workout, Melodee multi-tasks and uses the baby as "weight" for her front squats or med ball sit-ups (see pics above).

Do not allow any current obstacle/situation to prevent you from reaching your fitness goals. Melodee attacks each workout full force and nothing holds her back. Great job!!!
